Published by at 8:36 am under Blog

We got this flyer through our office door this week. I can spot four mistakes. There may be more.

Jeeesus. Proof read, people, proof read! Where are they going with the capitals on Your and none on Christmas!? And sence? WTF!

  2. Darrenon 21 Nov 2008 at 10:11 am

    @Kitty It’s worse than that…

  3. Grandadon 21 Nov 2008 at 10:45 am

    Beautiful!

Apart from the lack of capitals, how do you spell “sence”? And “if your too busy”???

This was obviously typed up by the office bimbo in between nail filing jobs.

  4. Andrewon 21 Nov 2008 at 12:00 pm

I found seven. But only if I can count Christmas spelt with a small c twice.

  5. Darrenon 21 Nov 2008 at 12:17 pm

@Kitty I was letting the capitals slide. Was I being too generous?

    @Grandad And there’s more…

@Andrew It would help if you listed your 7?? And feel free to count the little ‘c’ twice.

  6. Kitty Caton 21 Nov 2008 at 12:21 pm

    Absolutely Darren.

  7. Andrewon 21 Nov 2008 at 12:39 pm

‘sence’ ‘christmas’, ‘christmas’, ‘your too busy’, ‘re-cycled’ (no need for the hyphen), it looks like they’ve put an extra space after re-cycled, ‘Your’ (capital in the middle of a sentence, why?), ‘christmas’ (again), no full stops anywhere.

As I’m into this now: no need for question marks where you’ve written “It would help if you listed your 7??” That’s not a question, as such.

    I’ll get my coat.

Andrew: I’m so turned on right now. Do you have a.. a red pen?

  9. Andrewon 21 Nov 2008 at 3:46 pm

Jo – I’m a teacher, I’ve an entire briefcase full of them.

    Do you need correcting?

  10. Sinéadon 21 Nov 2008 at 5:51 pm

Technically, “Delivering you all the joys” is also incorrect syntax, if we’re going hardline here…

Yay I picked out Andrew’s 7 before reading the comments. /nerd

If I was to be really really pedantic, I see 14!

    Make that 15

i think they done a fine job at righting them posters.

your all a pack of bullys.

  16. whoopsadaisyon 22 Nov 2008 at 10:02 am

Feck you, I’ve had to list them all. Think I’ve the same as everyone else now though.

    sence

    christmas – no cap

No full stop after ‘this season’

    christmas – no cap (again)

No full stop after ‘your office’ (again)

    your (you’re)

No full stop after ‘too busy’ (again)

    Double space after ‘re-cycled’

    no hyphen in ‘re-cycled’

    christmas – no cap (again)

No full stop after ‘after christmas’

    Your – no cap needed

    No full stop after ‘today’

‘Delivering you all the joys of a real christmas tree without any of the hassle’
…so. many. things. wrong. Aside from ‘christmas’ and no full stop 🙁

    Marvellous website Darragh indeed 🙂

    Ah, you’re ma.

  18. TheChrisDon 22 Nov 2008 at 1:00 pm

The biggest error has to be the “Delivering you all the joys of a real Christmas tree without any of the hassle” line 😀

  19. Joe Scanlonon 22 Nov 2008 at 8:55 pm

    Wow – thought I was bad…
At least they didn’t call ’em “Christmas threes”…

  20. B'dumon 23 Nov 2008 at 2:32 am

I can’t complain with the amoutn of errors I do.

    ^see!

  21. Darrenon 24 Nov 2008 at 12:40 pm

Wow! The pedantry is rife in here. I was being easy on them, just picking up on the spelling mistakes.

The one major problem I had though was with the picture. They are advertising “all the joys of a real Christmas tree without any of the hassle”, but the picture is of a fake tree. A FAKE TREE!! How stupid are these guys?

Anyway, life goes on. Merry Christmas. 🙂

  22. Daragh O Brienon 26 Nov 2008 at 9:26 am

Oh f*ck. The economy is doomed.

I suggest we send some Christmas gifts to the offices of this company…

    to whit:

    1) A dictionary.
    2) A book on grammar.
    3) The full stop key for a keyboard
    4) A child of 6 to do their proof reading for them
    5) A child of 7 to take a photo of a real tree for them to use next year
    6) A calendar, so they can put in it to have their website finished before next year so people can actually order from them on-line.
    7) A child of 8 to do the project management on all that.

    I despair. I really do.
