Ricky Gervais Takes His Emmy Back

Published by at 5:24 pm under Blog

I hated The Office – I just didn’t get it, but I loved Extras. In stand-up Ricky Gervais is excellent and this clip from the Emmy’s Emmys yesterday is comedy gold. Maybe I’ll give The Office another go…

The Office is classic stuff. Some of Jervais’s stand up is pretty good too!

I love the Office and Extras too. You should give it another go – it took me a few episodes to warm to it.

Like LeCraic said… have you given it a few tries? I didn’t like it at first and got to love very quickly. Same happened with Father Ted and League of Gentlemen.

    Give the office another chance.

I love extras far more than most people, Keith Chegwin and Les Dennis are two of the funniest people ever.

His stand-up is terrible though, the good bits of it are done far, far better on the xfm radio shows and podcasts.

Series 1 of XFM is perhaps the funniest thing he ever done too, absolute gold once it gets flowing.

“Emmy’s”, Darren? I expect Ricochet to hunt you down in his never ending persecution of the superfluous apostrophe.

I really can’t believe you didn’t like The Office, you must not have given it a proper go at all. I have both series on DVD if you’d like to borrow them. You then need to watch the Christmas special as well to tie it all up. I love Extra too but it’s The Office that was a true mould-breaker.

    Great clip.

I’m another one who loves The Office and has the DVDs. Gervais acts like a heartless ass but his writing has a lot of depth when you follow the characters over the series. I love how it ends in the Christmas specials, the final one makes me weepy every time.
I love Extras too. The characterisations are great and some of the star turns were amazing, though some weren’t. The finale didn’t grab me so much though.

I too love Extras but never got The Office, this is comedy gold though. I love it when anyone injects something genuinely funny into stiff, starched awards ceremonies.

@Tcup I will, I will. It better be good though.

@Sharon Thanks for the comment. I actually have seen that last moment and I’ll agree, it was brilliant. An I didn’t even know the characters when I saw that.

@Gray Thank you very much for the comment and welcome to the blogosphere.
