8 Years Later And Still Playing Dress Up

Published by at 10:21 am under Blog,Night Out

Lottie at BurlesqueEight years ago, Lottie and I kissed at the back of UGC cinema’s screening of Charlie’s Angels. Despite this inauspicious beginning, we have stayed together for eight years. From the early stage where no one (including ourselves) believed we would last right through to today where our friends seem to view us as that annoyingly lovey-dovey couple in the corner, I am proud to say the passion has never died.

Darren at BurlesqueLottie has supported me through some of the darkest times of my life and she has been there at my side through all of it, when anyone else would have turned their backs. Equally, she has held my hand and laughed along during some of the greatest moments, many of which have been as recent as this year. I don’t care how mushy and loved up this post sounds, I want to tell her how much I love her and how important she is to me.

On Saturday night we were surrounded by some of our best friends and there is no better way we could have celebrated our anniversary. It was the second Burlesque Night we’ve been to and we’ll definitely be returning…

I don’t know if i am more jealous of the camera or the girl. For fear of reprisal from a sharp tongued Lottie i will say the girl.

Congrats mate. When you find the love you gotta hang on with both hands.

I had no idea it was your anniversary, congrats! 8 years is mega. It still shocks me, especially seeing how utterly infatuated you both are with each other, it’s beautiful!, hope Jen and I are still like that in another 4 years.

@Annie It was a very hot night all round.

@GM Here’s hoping. We’re very lucky and I think as long as we remember that, we’ll be ok.

@Stew It is a gorgeous camera though, isn’t it?

@Greenie Why didn’t you come? Sure, we’ll do the same on Thursday (it is Thursday, yeah?).

@Sinéad I have no doubt that you and Jen will still be just as infatuated with me in four years time as you are now. I did read your comment right, didn’t I?

    @Sinéad Me? Aw shucks!

@Greenie We should be doing the same tbh.

@NaRocRoc What can I say? I’m a complicated man. It’s weird reading that post back over. It was only two weeks, but my attitude is so much better now.

Gutted I couldnt make it this time – but you know how biological parents seems to re-align plans!
Had a great weekend in Moate and we managed to raise 1600€ for share a dream. Santa was on site and looking better than ever.
My sisters birth mother and her family were as alwways crazy as hell!
The hotel we stayed in was possibly the worst hotel ever! So I loved it!

And a follow on to acknowledge those crazy people in Moate:

“Jim and Helen Dunne from Moate were honoured for their phenomenal fundraising efforts on behalf of the Share a Dream Foundation. Over the last five years they have raised €100,000 for charity, receiving donations through the post, by bucket collecting, packing bags at Supervalu in Monte and through the donation box at the front of their house. Each Christmas they transform their front garden into a Christmas wonderland and Santa Claus, along with the Monte Gardai and the Kilbeggan Fire Brigade pay a visit to those who come to look at the adorned house, complete with a life-size crib and giant Santas, Snowmen and Reindeer. Jim and Helen’s continuous fundraising has brought smiles, colour and happiness to the local community and those for whom Share a Dream can support. The award was presented by Fergal O’Connell, General Manager, Radisson SAS Hotel, Athlone. ”

All this led by two people who do all this in their ‘spare’ time!
