Making The Most Of The Long Weekend

Published by at 11:44 am under Blog,Night Out

What an amazing weekend. Truly, it was one of those weekends that you could never possible hope to have as much fun. We laughed, we drank, we got slagged off by Jason Byrne; we watched comedians play football, we watched Des Bishop perform Jump Around (as Bรฉarla agus as Gaeilge), we got a taxi home a 5am.

My weekend began on Thursday night with drinks in Dublin with some friends, moved to Wexford for a wedding on Friday, before GPSing it to Kilkenny where the weekend really kicked off in fine style, sitting in the window of Morrisons bar watching the assortment of funnymen walk by.It’s what all long weekends should be.

Admittedly, we spent a ridiculous fortune, but I feel like I’ve just been away for a week’s holiday. I’m refreshed, happy, slightly less milk-bottle-white than I was last week (yes, the beautiful weather helped immensely).

Back in work in Tuesday morning, all I want to do is talk about the past few days, but alas I have work to do, but I will try to pull some posts together today and this evening.

I’m organising some photos from the weekend… spotted one of yourself and @anthonymcg in the bunch, will fire it up online tonight. Great weekend in Kilkenny and good to catch up with you again dude!

Now, when you say GPS’ing you mean GPguessing!

Never known a satellite to direct you up a cow track before ๐Ÿ˜›

Ahh but dear Darragh, the directions you gave me didn’t work out either, the only place I came across that you wrote down was Borris, ended up guessing the rest of it!! LOL.

Mary, no offense darling but you’d get lost going to the end of the road – took us about 90 minutes to get to Dublin yesterday…

All you had to do was follow the written list I gave you (or the big signposts saying Carlow/Dublin)…

    ๐Ÿ˜‰ x

I did but I didn’t see any big signs that said them, I didn’t go near Carlow, ended up going through Bangnelstown and that way out onto the motorway.
Also bear in mind I’d had approx 3 hours sleep Sunday night, so was lucky I found anywhere!! LOL.

Ha, I love it. “back in work” and what – a post. Why does it feel less like you’re committing a crime, when checking emails/blogs/social networks is the first thing to be done with the cuppa, rather than doing actual work?! …because everyone else is doing it too… Sounds like a savage weekend.

  8. Darraghon 03 Jun 2008 at 2:33 pm

@Mary – Mhuine Bheag is Bagnaelstown ๐Ÿ˜‰ – it depends on where you’re from what you call it. Irish Rail call it Mhuine Bheag, locals Bagnaelstown – glad to see you got the right way home anyways!!

@MJ – you have no idea how savage it was. ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. Maryon 03 Jun 2008 at 2:34 pm

Ahh here, you should’ve wrote it in English and not Irish you mad thing, I thought I was going the wrong way as I couldn’t see any of the names you’d written on the list only Borris!!! LOL.

  10. Darraghon 03 Jun 2008 at 2:38 pm

We should probably take this to email, but it’s on the signs in both… Or you could just have texted/called/sent a pigeon…

Was Borris There? Nobody told me ๐Ÿ˜†

I was at Des Bishop’s legendary show in Longford, almost any time he’s done an interview since, he’s slotted in how Longford is a dump.

  13. Maryon 03 Jun 2008 at 4:01 pm

Ahh but Des Bishop is just soooooooooooooooooo hot!! hehe

  14. Darrenon 03 Jun 2008 at 4:02 pm

@Darragh & @Mary Can you please stop arguing on my blog – you’re messing with my calm. Anyway, Mary, you’d get lost in a paper bag and Doyle, your directions are worse than an Australian GPS in Tubbercurry.

@MJ Yes, this whole work thing is messing with my online life.

@Grannymar Yes, Borris was there. He said to say hi and he wants his underwear back.

    @B’DumX2 What happened in Longford?

  15. Darraghon 03 Jun 2008 at 4:04 pm

@Darren – there’s no argument there boss. Mary’s wrong and I’m right. What’s there to argue about, eh? EH?

  16. Maryon 03 Jun 2008 at 4:08 pm

Or worse then GPS in a tub of curry..
    I know I know, bed…

It was indeed a fab weekend Darren, beautiful weather, great company, beer & lots of laughs – what more could a body ask for? ๐Ÿ˜€

  18. Anthonyon 03 Jun 2008 at 5:08 pm

One of you must have registered invisibletoast.com! Want!

  19. Darrenon 03 Jun 2008 at 5:16 pm

    @Niamh Yep – brilliant!

@Anto Tee hee! And someone in the US already has SneakyToast.com. I got the .net one.

  20. Niamhon 03 Jun 2008 at 6:38 pm

Anthony- I thought you’d been really quick & registered sneakytoast this morning- looks like someone got there before you! How very dare they! ๐Ÿ˜‰

(it wasn’t me I promise…I’m just not that organised)

There was one heckler he couldn’t handle, eventually gave up on attacking him and started at everyone going to the toilet. Eventually he regained the whole audience… only to kill his show entirely with a serious story about testicular cancer.

I forgive him though cos In The Name of the Fada was pretty great.

  22. Maryon 04 Jun 2008 at 8:09 am

And as I came up with the names of them I want a percentage of the cuts for it!!!LOL
