That’s All Folks

Published by at 7:30 am under Blog

I really look forward to each weeks’ Postsecrets. Some of them are hillarious, some are shockingly heartbreaking, some thoughtprovoking, some are just plain strange. It’s fun to read about the quirks and foibles of all these different people (I guess it’s reassuring to know that we all have our own odd sides).

Sometimes you look at one of the postcards, maybe give it a smirk and then move on to the next, only to come back to it and see something more in it.

This week there was one like that for me:

That's All Folks

I smiled when reading it and clicked on to the next site. I came back to it a little while later and thought about who may have sent this card in. Are they depressed over lost youth? Are they so down that even Looney Tunes can’t perk them up? Do they spend their days faking a big Bugs Bunny smile, while aching on the inside? Or maybe they just made the whole thing up so they could appear on the Postsecret site(cynic alert)?

Whatever the reason, it gave me pause and made me think.

That’s all folks!

that is seriously weird, I just discovered Postsecrets and came onto your blog to post a link to it in case you hadn’t heard of it. Its really a very beautiful thing, in quite a sad way. Have you ever sent one? I’m thinking there’s a few things I wouldn’t mind getting off my chest in a creative fashion…

@Andy Actually, I’ve never even thought about sending one in.

You’ve hit on something there though – it’s not just about unburdening your soul – it’s about doing it in a creative way. Some of the Postsecrets are mini-works-of-art.

Go on, tell us your secrets…

Not here buddy, not here. There’s a textsecrets thing on Rick O’Shea’s blog which is worth a look but the Bitter:Sweet ratio tips a lot further to the wrong side than Postsecrets does.

by the by, how many visitors are you getting to this page at the moment? I get the feeling it should be a lot more. Some of your work has been fecking brilliant recently and you deserve a wide audience. I’m not just saying this cos i’m your mate either, I’ll tell you straight out when you suck.

I don’t know how to make a blushing smiley icon, but if I did, it would be here –>

I know only too well that you would tell me when I’m crap. It’s a lovely brutal honestly you have.

Each post gets about 40 individual views each day. There’s a lot of people subscribed to the feed, which is nice. Some of the bigger posts, such as the adoption posts or the Bright New Sounds posts, have been viewed by a few hundred different IP addresses. I guess most people just don’t like to comment. That’s fine though.

I think its very weird to regularly view people’s blogs and not comment at all. You should let people know if you relate to what they’re saying or are just tickled by it. I read a good post on someone’s blog not too long ago about people visiting and not commenting, I’ll see if I can find it and put the link up.

Cool! Cheers. I don’t really mind, but feedback is good.
